![]() I called the dealership who told me onstar provided the stabilitrak code for it. Service stabilitrak light came on, abs light and traction control light came on. I got it off to the side of the road, I thought my car was going to flip over the brakes locked down so hard. I was driving on the interstate at posted limit of 60 when brakes began locking up on me. This is the 3rd time this has happened in our vehicle, my second complaint here. ![]() However, I was told that despite this being a known issue among my year, make, and model, that I would have to pay over $2300 for repairs, even though there several special bulletins and coverages that state this is an ongoing, known issue with my vehicle. There, I was told that 5 other chevy Traxes had been in for similar issues in that week (there had been a winter storm and temperatures below 0). The service bulletin also states that there is a special coverage for vehicles with this issue, so I took my Trax to a local chevy dealer. I have experienced several of these conditions. Hesitation on acceleration, malfunction indicator lamp illuminated, stalling condition, and loss of power". Upon doing further research and finding other chevy Trax owner forums, I found that this is a common issue in colder weather, and service bulletin 16-na-405 has been released several years in a row by general motors which states that in north America, "some customers may comment that when driving in extremely cold weather conditions (0*f or less), their vehicle experiences one or several of the following conditions. I took my car to an auto parts store to have the code read and was told it was p0299, which indicates a turbo underboost condition. I was driving on the freeway at a speed of approx 70 mph when my check engine light came on with a noticeable decrease in engine power. At this time, we are told the cars issue is the turbo. Anytime the vehicle exhibits the above mentioned problems, the check engine light does come on and usually in addition to the issues listed above, the car seems to be low/out of oil. The vehicle has been looked at by napleton Hyundai in glenview, jennings chevy in glenview and prior to our ownership, anderson chevy in chicago. We also found that on Dec 17th, 2022, the previous owner took the car in with the same problems and after getting an estimate, declined service and took the car back Dec 28th, 2022. Upon getting the car back on April 26th, it took merely 4-5 more days for the problems to come back again. ![]() ![]() During those 2 months of waiting, my parents were instructed not to take the highway and not to exceed 40mph. Those items were backordered and were not able to be replaced until 2 months after our original complaint. At the time it was diagnosed as a catalytic converter and flex pipe problem. My parents and I went on Feb 16th, 2023 to napleton Hyundai in glenview and bought the car used and after 2 days of driving, my parents were having issues with the car and being able to accelerate. After I told the dealership about how long in driving it takes to recreate the problem, the dealership that currently holds the car(jennings Chevrolet in glenview, IL) were able to reproduce the problem. Our safety does seem to be at risk as we cannot seem to keep up with traffic speeds and would likely cause an accident if we remain on the road while the car is exhibiting these conditions. The check engine light come on when this occurs. After maybe 10-15min of driving, if attempting to go over 40mph, the car starts making a clinking sound, a lot of exhaust smoke comes out the back and there is a general inability to accelerate without the engine sputtering which even happened at lower speeds once it has already started to happen. The issues with the car happen when attempting to go over 40mph.
